Agent

I have written a book. Many of you may not know that,
but it's true. I began it when I was in the jungles of
Peru, finished it last January, and finished all the
edits in July. It's fiction. It has adventure, love,
danger and life, with the Amazon as its backdrop. I
don't want to say too much about it now, but hopefully,
one day soon, you can read it for yourself.
The literary market is extremely difficult to break into. One of the toughest parts is finding an agent. You have to send out query letters (a one-page synopsis of the book) and hope it sparks someone's interest. Most agents get about 300-1000 of these letters each week. About 1% of all query letters receive a positive response. Fortunately, God blessed me as 7 agents asked to read part of my book. Two of them asked to read the entire book, and in less than a month after I sent out the initial queries, a literary agent offered me representation! Very exciting!
Nothing is guaranteed yet or anything, but one of the most difficult stages is over. Now, my agent is out there promoting my book to different publishers, trying to get me a book deal. It could take a year or never happen, or it could be sold by Christmas. Either way, it's exciting right now to actually have an agent.

A Tale of Two Austin's
09/09/07 22:09
Jess and I spent this past weekend in the hill country
of Austin, Texas. While Jess and her twin sister,
Nicole, hooked up with five
other girls from their college days at SFA, I got
together with my buddy Chris, my former partner in
the Gospel on the Xtreme Team.
Chris and his wife Kristin introduced me to a couple of Austin spots, including a little restaurant located on Lake Travis. We enjoyed great food, conversation, a beautiful sunset on the horizon of the lake, and some live music from Matt the Electrician.
Jessica's main event came on Sunday when she and the girls competed in an adventure race, raising support for breast cancer awareness. It was apparent from the beginning that this group of SFA alumni came to, more than anything, have fun. Running, floating, swimming, relays and obstacle courses made up this adventure race, giving both the girls and the audience (me) a great time.

Fantasy Football

There's about six blogs that I check pretty much
everyday, and currently, three of them have blogs about
football (Mason), two of them posting
their 2007 Fantasy Football Team (Brian & Clint). So, in falling into
online peer pressure, I have decided to reveal my
Fantasy Football Team for this season. This is the
first year I didn't get LT, but I'm hoping to find
a way to win without him. (Leesburg Fantasy Football
League).
